Lexavet, located in Helsinki, offers high-quality small animal surgery in modern facilities. For us, the well-being and safety of every patient are our top priorities – we care for your pet with a big heart before, during, and throughout the recovery phase.
We use modern inhalation anesthesia and our team consists of experienced veterinarians specializing in surgery.
Our Comprehensive Surgical Services
We perform a wide variety of surgeries at our clinic in Pukinmäki, ranging from routine procedures to more demanding surgeries:
- Sterilizations and castrations: Routine surgeries for female and male pets, always with comprehensive pain management.
- Tumor surgery: Removal of skin and subcutaneous tumors, with the option for pathological examination.
- Soft tissue surgery: For example, pyometra surgeries (womb infections), spleen removals, bladder surgery, and wound repairs.
- Orthopedics: Patellar luxation repair (PL surgery), fracture management, and other joint surgeries.
- Emergency surgery: Acute situations, such as foreign body removal, gastric torsion (GDV), or Caesarean sections within our opening hours.
"Safety is the core of our surgery: we always use the latest technology and monitoring methods so that your pet's waking up is as fast and painless as possible."
Safe Anesthesia and Monitoring
We use inhalation anesthesia for all surgeries, which is the safest form of anesthesia for small animals. It allows for precise adjustment of depth, which speeds up the waking process. An anesthesia nurse constantly monitors the patient's:
- Heart rate and breathing
- Blood oxygenation
- Body temperature (heating equipment in use)
We recommend pre-anesthetic blood tests for older pets or pets with underlying medical conditions to check liver and kidney function before anesthesia.

Recovery and Aftercare at Home
A successful surgery requires good care at home as well:
