Dog and Cat Vaccinations in Helsinki
Dog and Cat Vaccinations
Vaccines are designed to strengthen your pet's own immune system and shield them from specific infectious diseases.
We provide routine core vaccines for both dogs and cats. If needed, we can work together with you to design a personalized vaccination plan—for example, if your pet is traveling abroad.
At Lexavet, your pet is always in experienced hands!
Lexavet also hosts walk-in "vaccine drives", where you can drop by without an appointment and pets are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Read more about our vaccine drives here.
Please make sure to check the availability of less common vaccines before booking your appointment.
What does the visit include?
Clinical examination
Before giving any vaccine, our veterinarians perform a thorough general health check to ensure your pet is healthy and ready for their shot. This exam includes listening to their heart and lungs, checking their mouth (if they cooperate) and skin, palpating external lymph nodes and the abdomen, and discussing your pet’s overall well-being with you.
Vaccination
Depending on the specific vaccine, it may be given as an injection under the skin or as a nasal spray. Injectable vaccines can sting a bit, but the process is very quick.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should my pet be vaccinated?
Dog vaccinations:
- Puppies: Early vaccination at 8 weeks, regular boosters at 12 weeks and 1 year of age.
- Adults: Annual kennel cough vaccine; every 3 years for the 4-in-1 combo and rabies vaccines.
Cat vaccinations:
- Kittens: Vaccinations at 12 weeks, 16 weeks, and 1 year of age.
- Adults: Every 1–3 years for the triple vaccine; every 3 years for rabies (if required).
My pet is sick—can they still get vaccinated?
If your pet isn't feeling their best, we recommend waiting until they have fully recovered before getting vaccinated. Pets should not be vaccinated if they have an acute illness impacting their general health, such as a stomach bug or a respiratory infection. Only healthy pets should receive vaccinations.
